I first met Jena in the summer of 2015 at Maya Couture on Main. I had only been with the company for about 2 months and she was my very first bride! She arrived for her Bridal appointment with her mother, father and maid of honor and it couldn’t have been a better day! Jena was just the sweetest, as was her entire family, and when she said those magical words, “yes to the dress” everyone was teary eyed, including myself! She certainly was a vision and looked just beautiful in the Allure lace ballgown we chose.
Over the next six months, our relationship grew as I helped Jena on her journey to wedded bliss. She picked out the most gorgeous mint green Bill Levkoff gowns for her beautiful bridesmaids and a few days after Christmas, she said “Yes to the Dress” again! This time to a perfect, tea length reception gown by Allure, which almost mirrored her actual wedding gown. It was just meant to be!
The wedding day finally arrived and on April 9th, 2016 Jena said “I do” to the love of her life, Brandan, at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Portsmouth, VA. From the little details, like her fathers tie, embroidered with the words, “I’ll always be your little girl” to the beautiful bride and groom, it surely was the perfect day!
Congrats Jena and Brandon! I wish you a lifetime of happiness, and am honored to have played a role in your special day. Cheers!

Emily Zapencki was born and raised in Michigan and is still a midwest girl at heart! She has her bachelors degree in Business Administration and majored in Logistics and Marketing at Central Michigan University. Emily started her career straight out of college with JB Hunt. After a year at their Chicago office, she was relocated to Norfolk, VA to run their intermodal ramp as Operations Manager. After 5 years in that role, she knew it was time for a change. Emily took a leap of faith, and with the support of her fiancé, resigned from JB Hunt. She took some time to figure things out and in February of 2015, during her bridal appointment at Maya Couture, she casually asked about employment. Emily has always loved working with people and planning events and thought this would be a great opportunity. In April 2015 she began working for Maya at the once Silk Bridal Studio, as a Bridal Stylist. In June, Emily was asked to manage Maya Couture on Main in Suffolk and she gladly accepted. She managed the Suffolk store for one year and during that time Emily got married, bought a condo and had a beautiful baby girl! She returned from maternity leave and took on a new role within the company: Social Media. She loves helping brides still and gets her fill when she’s helping out at any of the five House of Maya locations! Emily’s favorite part of the job is making connections: whether its helping a bride find the gown of her dreams or matching her with a vendor for her a big day, its all about understanding the clients needs and helping them on their journey!
