Meet our Directors

Anzen Garcia
Anzen GarciaGeneral Manager
Anzen has been at Maya Couture since 2008, and since then, has completely revitalized our alterations department. Anzen grew up watching her mother and grandmother sew, and as she got older, it was an interesting hobby that she decided to turn into a career.  After college, she moved to New York City to further her career and expertise, prior to moving back to Hampton Roads and starting her career with Maya.  She started out as a consultant and the in-house designer, and quickly moved into management with the alterations department. She has created custom lines both personally and professionally, collaborating with Maya to create collections for our store. She studied fashion design at Virginia Commonwealth University, because of her love for evening wear and bridal. She was married in May of 2013 (and of course, wore a custom gown that she designed), and they just had their first baby girl, Madison.
Anzen has loved evening wear and bridal gowns since she was little. She loves the beauty of these gowns and the elegance it projects when its worn.  She also loves creating gowns for these brides. She loves taking their ideas and making them come to life. It makes her happy seeing the smile on their faces and the joy in their eyes as they see themselves for the first time in the gown of their dreams.  Her favorite bridal look is classic, elegant, and timeless.  She believes a bride should look back on her wedding photos and feel it’s something they can pass on.
Anzen’s advice to brides: “Take it all in, don’t get too hung up on the small details. Remember what the wedding is for and who its for. At the end of the day, all that matters is the declaration of love between you and your partner. Staci Jelly, Director of The Bridal Dish® by House of Maya and Creative Initiatives.

Kirsten Nelson
Kirsten NelsonDirector of Sales
Kirsten’s love for the wedding industry began when she was a little girl and spent countless hours playing in a wedding dress store owned by a family friend. Though the majority of her career was spent in advertising sales, she found ways to indulge her passion for weddings by helping friends plan their big days, participating as a bridesmaid numerous times, and doing makeup for bridal parties.

Kirsten was first introduced to the House of Maya when it was her turn to be a bride in 2016; she not only found the perfect Hayley Paige gown, she also found the career of her dreams. First as the Store Manager for Pure English, and now as the Director of Sales, Kirsten has combined her obsession for weddings with her love of fashion & style to help brides find the perfect dress.

A Hampton Roads local, Kirsten was raised in Virginia Beach along with her 2 brothers. They each made her an aunt to her gorgeous nieces, which she believes is re-payment for the torture they bestowed upon her while growing up. She graduated from James Madison University and now resides at the Oceanfront with her husband, Glen. Aside from weddings, Kirsten’s favorite things include spending time with friends & family, glitter, make-up, ranch salad dressing & Doritos, bad reality TV, accessories, testing Glen’s patience, and all things summer.

Brindley Lowe
Brindley LoweAlterations Manager
Brindley comes to us after having spent the last 10 years teaching art in an elementary school in South Carolina.  She graduated from Winthrop University with a degree in Art Education.  After graduating she wanted to be closer to the ocean and the coast, so she moved to Summerville, South Carolina right outside of Charleston.  Her ten years in teaching prepared her for the bridal world.  She learned to listen to the details, to be patient and to be extremely organized.
Her start with House of Maya is one for the books!  Last summer Brindley decided to move to Virginia to be closer to family.  While on vacation in June, she took her cousin wedding dress shopping at Pure English and picked “THE ONE!”  “I just paid attention to my cousin’s body language and reactions to each dress.  I listened to what she wanted and found a dress that was everything she was asking for.”  After that, Brindley was hooked and has been with us ever since!
